About the Author
JEAN PRICE-MARS Jean Price-Mars (1876-1969), Haitian statesman, diplomat, physician, teacher, and presidential candidate is renowned for his intellectual guidance of Haitian youth and his efforts to stimulate the Haitian elites to be leaders in the restoration of Haitian nationalism during the American Occupation of Haiti, 1915-1934. Though the Acadamie Francaise awarded him special honor for all of his written works in June 1959, the English-speaking world is little aware of his early ethno-historical approach demonstrating that the black man was equal in intellectual and political abilty to other members of the hunman specie. By elevating the pride of Haitians in their folkloric past and racial competence, Price-Mars hoped to encourage a national spirit that would weld intellectual elites and illiterate peasants togther. Price-Mars regarded the concept of race as a myth and perceived Voodoo as a religion - a cultural rather than a pathological expression. Through his attack on racism and his defense of Voodoo as a folkloric pattern he hoped above all to affect the rigid condemnatory attitude of much of Western Civilization.

About the Author
James Bickerton is Professor of Political Science at St. Francis Xavier University. Alain-G. Gagnon holds the Canada Research Chair in Qu�bec and Canadian Studies at the Universit� du Qu�bec � Montr�al. About the Author
Scot Danforth is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education, University of Missouri-St. Louis. He received his Ph.D. in special education from the University of South Florida. He has worked in a variety of roles within the field of speical education; paraprofessional, classroom teacher, consultant, researcher, and teacher educator. He is the co-author of two books and has published articles in leading special education journals in the United States and Europe. He specializes in the education of students experiencing behavioral difficulties, the social construction of disability, and the philosophy of social inquiry.

Joseph Boyle is a professor in the Department of Philosophy, Principal of St. Michael's College, and a member fo the Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto.

I like this book because it encapsulates behavior management and the research behind it by referencing the theorists to which each behavior management style can be attributed to. This is a great book for reviewing classroom management styles and very helpful for any new teacher.

The Cases are Based in Reality

I haven't gone through the entire book yet, but so far so good. The cases really represent real life situations and are easy to read and understand. The book arrived quicker than I thought it would so I was well prepared for class. Thanks Amazon for being to amazing...there were several people in my class that STILL have not received their book from other vendors.
