A Unit History of Extraordinary Excellence

Mr. Hickey's book on the 345th Bomb Group's actions during the Pacific conflict is well written, loaded with detail and abounding with first hand accounts. These garishly painted medium bombers wreaked havoc on Japanese ships and airfields including raids on the heavily defended Truk Island and Rabaul. In addition to the prose, the superb photography alone is worth the price. Today's "drones" have their predecessors in these low level skip bombers and para-fraggers with ample close up photos of the Bomb Group's actions against both shipping and land bases. Anybody interested in the air war against Japan in WW2 would be advised to snatch up one of these original volumes as the information and photos are priceless!
