If you think Trump is "all bark and no bite" then PLEASE read this. Deeply unsettling, the facts and history laid out by David Cay Johnston evince the long history of a shady, greedy, and relentlessly sociopathic media mogul and his rise to power. From half-baked schemes, to false identities this book reads like a group of coiffed mob bosses sitting around a tacky gilded table trying to one-up each other with their stories. Except they're all Trump and they're all his stories and they're all true. This book will leave your jaw dropped as you have to repeatedly remind yourself THIS IS REAL.

This is the third Trump biography which I have read. Although all three illustrate Trump's lack of honesty and character, this one is the most complete and detailed. It reveals Trump's connections to Mob members and other unsavory characters that are very disturbing.

About the Author

Robert C. Koons is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of Paradoxes of Belief and Strategic Rationality (2009), Realism Regained (2000), and co-editor of The Waning of Materialism (2010).

Timothy Pickavance is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Talbot Department of Philosophy at Biola University, La Mirada, California. He has published a number of papers on topics relating to metaphysics and epistemology.

A resounding success

The authors attempt to give an overview of not one impossibly difficult subject, but *dozens* of impossibly difficult subjects that are all closely interlinked with one another -- while explaining both sides of the contemporary debate for every issue and citing sources appropriately, using widely accepted terminology, without compromising clarity for beginners like me. While there are moments when they seem to go off on a bit of a tangent, or get a little bit too wrapped up in their terms (which is something I'm told analytic philosophers are prone to do), the book is, for the most part, a resounding success, and was an excellent companion to me in my undergraduate Intro to Metaphysics class. I couldn't write this, and neither could you; thank goodness Koons and Pickavance did.

Unfortunately, the book persuaded me that books don't exist, so take my review of this non-book with a grain of salt. :)

Insightful

Having read some on the subjects of time and possible worlds, I was surprised by the lucidity of insights provided in this introduction. The authors give a helpful foray into trope theory, and demarcate the parties debating causation and laws of nature. They masterfully manage a complex discussion on composition, keeping the reader oriented and encouraged. My only complaint is that they make some of their points — important, load-bearing points — extremely fast, in a sentence or two. In other places also I wish the book were longer, especially on the relationships between universals and laws of nature. But if you want to canvass the fundamentals, this book is time well-spent.

Best cook book ever!

If I could, I would give this book a 6 star rating! I have never been so happy with a cook book! It has changed my life, seriously! From lamenting what I should cook and creating fairly uninspiring dished ( mainly for myself), I now effortlessly create gourmet lunches and dinners! ( note: I am NOT getting paid to write this review!). I am a vegetarian, but I can see that a small portion of meat could go with the dishes. I don't find that necessary, because the dishes are filling and delicious. I love the way the book offers recipees for the 4 seasons, as well as a section called Every Day Recipees. Every season has its own spice mix and they are delightful to put together. The colors, the yellow, browns and oranges are so inviting! The spices are not hot. They just add a wonderful and interesting flavor to the dishes and I bet they are very healthy! Th recipees are very easy. I'd say the average time it takes to cook a meal is maybe 30 minutes, less once you've made them a few time. They are not at all complex and all have ingredients that are easy to find in a grocery store. I've effortlessly increased the amount of vegetables eat by multitudes.
The only minor criticism I have of the book is that the index is very incomplete and it is hard to search for dishes. But I made a list of all my favorites, including many wonderful drinks and deserts, with the page number and that works well. At least 4 of my friends are cooking entirely from this book, too and are equally happy with the recipees.
If you are at all attracted to this kind of cooking, you won't regret buying this book!

Ayurvedic cooking for everyone!

I got my introduction to Ayurveda from Kate. For the longest time, I looked for and collected Ayurvedic cookbooks and recipes without much success of truly getting the hang of it. I can honestly say that this book has changed my perspective on actualizing the Ayurvedic lifestyle from a diet perspective. The ingredients are simple and directions are easy to follow. After a few times of making something, I no longer have to depend on the recipes to make them and can prepare grains and legumes ahead of time. The shopping lists are the best part. The seasonable organization makes so much sense. Thanks Kate and Cara!

A note on making Dosa. I had a hard time with getting the right consistency of dosa dough. I'd follow the directions exactly and nothing would happen to the batter. I just didn't know what to really look for. I looked at videos and images online but it was still hard to get a sense. I ready numerous blogs and forum comments complaining that perhaps it's too clean in America. It seemed like an especially impossible task in New England, in the middle of winter. But, it's much easier than I'd imagined. I now just leave it the freshly ground batter on the counter, uncovered, and let it sit for as long as it needs to start the fermentation process. At fairly low room temperature, it could take up to 2 days. That's why my initial tries showed no results. When it's fermented, you'll know by the change in consistency (almost like milk curddling), doubling of volume, and smell.

Does not adhere to Ayuvedic principles

I was hoping for more specific information regarding diets for each dosha. Although they are mentioned in the book, there is not a lot of information here. It is important not to eat fruits or dairy with each other, or anything else for that matter, otherwise toxins will build up in your body. The recipes in here does not take that into consideration. In short, I feel the book has some ties to Ayurveda, but if you are looking for something more authentic, this is not it.

I really loved this. REALLY loved it

I really loved this. REALLY loved it. I am an inveterate manga reader, particularly in the BL genre, and this is probably the most impressed I have ever been with a manga from that genre. There is still so much more to learn and find out about the characters, too. Most of what I'd like to say has been stated before, but I *really* want to credit the team at SuBLime for doing such a fantastic job.

When it comes to English releases in the yaoi genre, it's unfortunate to say but in the past, with major licencer DMG/June's "quantity over quality" approach, the bar was not set very high with regard to the quality of translation and localization you'd get. I should say that it was very inconsistent, and during the "boom period" for yaoi, the quality would vary wildly between releases with that particular company.

It is extremely refreshing to see that SuBLime puts so much into the translation work for each title, clearly aiming for a consistent standard of quality that they all but never fail to meet. I think we should all be very grateful to them for raising the bar when it comes to what defines a truly "professional release" in the yaoi industry.

This is my first yaoi...so far, so good

My friend of mine recommended this and I decided to give it a chance. I've always been a person who loves romance. Let me say, this is a really good manga so far. I loved the therapist/patient relationship and it has my interest in mysophobia overall. Since this is my first, I'm not fully sure how to review but I do love where this is going. I like the art....and there is some major sexual tension already.

An amazing story. I can't wait for the other volumes

I don't know where to start. The art is gorgeous, and the story line has such depth. The translator and editor did an amazing job bringing out the story's nuances. The way Shirotani begins the story resigned to his life that is severely restricted by his phobia/psychosis, to wanting human contact thanks to meeting Kurose really hits you. Kurose is a therapist, but he makes it crystal clear that he is not Shirotani's Doctor. He makes it clear he wants friendship with Shirotani, and wants to support him as such. So this is no sleazy Dr/ patient manipulation. In fact in later volumes you'll see Kurose has his own demons. Be prepared, while this volume is about them discovering feelings for each other, the next will REALLY heat up. So sorry, I'm really not doing this story justice. It is amazing and complex. If you want a good yaoi, this is it 100%:)

Keep in mind the mistakes.........

Everyone here is giving five stars, but I recently bought this 1992 (revised) edition off amazon, replacing the previous edition that I had 20 years ago which was nicked by one of my friends.

If you really know music, you will see that there are now lots of editorial errors. for example, on the MODULATION page, it says:

"You could change straight from C to G, since the vertical columns show that G is both the dominant (V) in the key of C and the root (I) in the key of C and the sub-dominant (IV) in the key of G.."

I assure you that:

G is the dominant (V) in the key of C
but

G is not the root (I) in the key of C
and furthermore

G is not the sub-dominant (IV) in the key of G..

the author meant:

"You could change straight from C to G, since the vertical columns show that G is both the dominant (V) in the key of C and the root in the key of G.. and C is the sub-dominant in the key of G"

These errors are perhaps to be expected in our age of computer grammar check. If you know your chord theory you can sort that out with a red pen after scratching your head for a while, but if you don't, you are going to be lost.

I also find mislabeled chord diagrams like the seventh augmented fifth fingering on page 127. It says root note on the 5th string but the root is on the second (A) string, and the intervals are labeled upside down. from top 3rd,b7th,#5th,1st? No: 1st,#5th, 3rd, b7th.

What can I say? it is disappointing and again a beginner is going to be stuck here. Nevertheless it is and has always been a great book.

If you are a beginner and purchase it, just keep in mind that there are errors, but if you are buying this to replace your old copy, maybe better wait till a new edition comes out, and I hope the publisher doesn't make the cover any thinner.

I started lessons two years ago as a beginner with an acoustic guitar. I had never previously had any exposure to musical instruments. I get 30 minutes a week with my teacher (who is fabulous) but he throws a lot of information at me and I don't always immediately grasp what he is saying or demonstrating. This book has been a godsend in that it very comprehensive and explains chords, scales, and music theory concepts in an easy to understand manner. The illustrations are clear and extremely helpful. I find that I use the manual constantly to reinforce or clarify my learning and it has - along with a lot of practice! - helped me steadily progress as an aspiring musician. If you are already an accomplished player, you may find this to be redundant of what you know, but for me it has been extremely helpful.

If you play guitar for fun or are a serious student you simply have to get a copy of this book. This handbook sets the standard for all other guitar books and instruction. Encyclopedic in the information it contains. Denyer's handbook was recommended to me by a professional guitar player, a 60+ year guitar player and two guitar instructors.
